June 18th, 2009
"So it was anticipated that these high school grades would not be as strong as they have been historically." Haithcock noted that the state's curriculum standards are under revision and should quickly take effect at all levels. The state report card is based on the results of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test in reading, math, science and writing. So much rides on those grades, including state funding, teacher bonuses and a school's reputation. The Florida Department of Education plans to release the 2009 school grades on Thursday. The annual grades are based onschools scores on the FCAT, that series of standardized tests taken.
