On the eve of a Senate vote that will determine whether Ben S. Bernanke can continue as the Federal Reserve chairman, the central bank's policy-setting committee voted to keep short-term interest rates near zero. Sources have suggested that Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) intends to vote “yes” on Chairman Bernanke's cloture vote and “no” on the floor. The cloture vote requires 60 “yes” votes to approve and really is THE vote to confirm. Biggest % gainers: AUD/CHF up 1%, AUD/JPY up 0.96%, NZD/USD, AUD/USD on yen & dollar selling & Aussie strength. Biggest % losers: EUR/AUD down.
