To much of the country, today is Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday. But in Hamtramck, a city of roughly 21500 entirely surrounded by Detroit, it's Paczki Day. Like Mardi Gras, Paczki Day is basically a final indulgent celebration before the Today is Fat Tuesday, in the last hurray before the solemnity of Lent, here in Milwaukee means Fat Tuesday Paczki. Although it looks like a jelly donut, an Today is Paczki Day in Hamtramck, and all those quaint bakeries in the old Polish 'hood will be cranking out tons of those sinfully sweet spheres of sugar,
