CANCUN, Mexico (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Alex gained speed as it approached Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, where it was expected to make landfall Tropical storm fears for oil spillBBC NewsExperts at the US National Hurricane centre say they do not expect the storm, known as Alex, to hit the spill area. It appears as if Alex is destined to become the first Atlantic basin hurricane of the season, and while Alex will not directly affect the area of the gulf with the oil spill, it will become a formidable storm.
